Riviera del Garda Classico Rosso Superiore
Madér
T
Madér is the dialectal name for the vine shoot from which the clusters of grapes grow. It is made from the traditional blend of Groppello, Sangiovese, Barbera, and Marzemino, harvested from our oldest vineyards.
After harvesting and manual sorting, the grapes are destemmed and pressed in the cellar. The skin maceration takes place in stainless steel tanks and usually lasts between 8 and 10 days with several daily pump-overs.
Malolactic fermentation is typically encouraged.
During the early winter months, the wine is transferred into second, third, and fourth-use French oak barriques with light toasting, where it is aged for 12 to 18 months, depending on the vintage.
After blending, the wine is bottled and then rests in the bottle for several months before being released for sale.
This wine presents a deep ruby color, with an elegant intensity of aroma, showcasing evident fruity notes (cherry and blackberry jam) and spicy hints of black pepper, along with undertones of leather and chocolate. On the palate, it is smooth and warm, with a velvety and enveloping tannic structure.
The finish is sweet and persistent, enveloping, with a very clean and refined closure.
It can age for more than 5 years from the vintage, developing aromas of ripe red fruit, tobacco, and a velvety, persistent taste that remains elegant.
With this wine, we aim to show that a red wine can be important and of high quality—so much so that it becomes unforgettable—without the need to be heavy or overly concentrated.
The first vintage was produced in 1998.
It has been repeatedly recognized by major wine guides, consistently earning “due bicchieri” in Gambero Rosso and “Tre Bottiglie” in the Espresso Guide. It has also been highlighted in the Veronelli and Luca Maroni guides.
